Tour and Excursion Information
Tour 1 – September 15th, 9:30pm – Ghost Tour of La Crosse – $10 ($5 for Students)
Joins us for a spooky exploration of historic downtown La Crosse and allow us to introduce you to some residents who simply refuse to leave. Bartenders, restaurateurs and great lovers of the theater will be among the ghostly city dwellers you will hear about.
This walking tour is slightly less than 1 mile. Attendees will meet in the lobby.
Tour 2 – September 16th, 10:45am-12:30pm – Paddle Boat Tour – $15 ($5 for Students)
Welcome aboard the authentic La Crosse Queen paddlewheeler on the upper Mississippi River! On our sightseeing tours, while the La Crosse Queen paddles the main channel of the river, your guide will explain facts and trivia of the historical and present day river, as well as point out local points of interest. Watch for eagles and other wildlife as we cruise past steep bluffs adjacent to the Great River Road — designated by AAA as one of the most scenic areas in America! Then as you near Lock & Dam No.7 in Dresbach, Minnesota, we will explain the locking process to you!
Attendees will gather in the lobby of the hotel, but they will then walk to the dock, which is just in front of the Radisson La Crosse.
Tour 3 – September 16th, 10:00am-12:30pm – Excursion to Granddad Bluff – $10 ($5 for Students)
Grandad Bluff has become not only a destination point for thousands, but also a symbol of this great Coulee Region. La Crosse’s recent renovation (completed in April of 2012) showed the importance and grandeur of Grandad Bluff to all who visit! Grandad Bluff is a city park located by following Main Street east which becomes Bliss Road (small vehicle only) as you ascend the bluff. At the top, the entrance is found by turning right on Grandad Bluff Road. The 600-ft high bluff overlooks the city of La Crosse. The view of the Mississippi River Valley includes the three states of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. Wisconsin Trails readers voted this “the most scenic view in the state”. The park features a shelter house, coin-operated binoculars, picnic areas and is the site of the annual Skyrocker`s New Year`s Eve Fireworks Show.
The tour includes bus transportation to the top of the Bluff, and a guide will walk the attendees down the bluff where they will meet the bus again which will take them back to the hotel. Attendees will meet in the hotel lobby, ideally a few minutes before departure time.
Tour 4 – September 16th, 11:00am-12:30pm – La Crosse Food Tour – $20 for Regular ($5 for Students)
The food tour will be a 90 minute walking tour of locally owned gourmet food establishments in the downtown La Crosse area. Samples of lunch fare, desserts, and beverages will be available. There will be no need for you to worry about lunch after you complete the tour. Note that it is a walking tour. Unfortunately transportation will not be available. The tour is limited to 12 people and the price is $10. Scheduled restaurants include Meringue Bakery and Cafe, The Charmant, La Crosse Distilling Company, Schuby’s Neighborhood Butcher, and The Root Note.
Attendees will meet in the hotel lobby and will walk together, with the local guide, starting at 11am. Arrive just a bit early to check-in.
